SITE

This project is located in Separation Creek, a small township located along the Great Ocean Road on Victoria’s coast.

BRIEF

The project brief involved the design of a small 90m2, two bedroom dwelling on a vacant site. The proposed dwelling is located on a small flat section of the site, taking advantage of the expansive oceans views across the Township of Separation Creek, toward Wye River beyond.

DESIGN

A difficult sloping site, a BAL40 fire rating and a tight budget drove the decision to minimise the building foot print to accomodate only the bare essentials. Bedrooms and wet areas are reduced to the bare minimum.

The small, open plan living area uses subtle elements to define the function of each section in the room. a single step separates the kitchen from the dining room. A wall of cupboards and a freestanding fireplace define the limits of the living room.
