This project is located in Separation Creek, a small township located along the Great Ocean Road on Victoria's coast.
The project brief involved the design of a small 80m2, two bedroom dwelling on a vacant site. The proposed dwelling is located on a small flat section of the site, taking advantage of the expansive oceans views across the Township of Separation Creek, toward Wye River beyond.
A difficult sloping sit, a BAL40 fire rating and a tight budget drove the decision to minimise the building foot print to accomodate only the bare essentials. Bedrooms and wet areas are reduced to a minimum.
The small, open plan living area uses subtle elements to define the function of each section in the room. a single step separates the kitchen from the dining room. A wall of cupboards and a freestanding fireplace define the limits of the living room.
