This project is a private residence located in Albion Park Rail, a small town on the south coast of NSW. The project is sited on the edge of Lake Illawarra, fronting parkland, with a stunning view across the lake to the north.
The project is an addition to a small weatherboard home for a young, growing family. The brief was to make the most of the amazing views of the park, the lake and the distant escarpment. The proposed addition is a two-storey structure containing four rooms, two living rooms (kitchen and lounge) and two flexible rooms, which can be study, office or bedroom depending on the client’s changing needs.
The upper living room has four key windows, with each window framing a specific view. One window at the top of the stairs frames a view of the sky, the largest window frames a view out toward the park, a third frames the view across the lake whilst editing out the neighbouring property and a fourth window frames the view up Karoo St toward the escarpment, at the same time editing out the surrounding houses.
